As a Director of The Flexible Platform, a network organisation for The Natural Step in the Netherlands, Freek supports communities, businesses and other organizations with integrated sustainability planning and education. Within the organisation, Freek's main focus is on training development and the delivery of networking services for sustainability change agents in The Netherlands. Prior to founding the organisation he has been involved in research and consultancy around strategic sustainable development. Amongst the clients he has worked for in his role at The Flexible Platform are WWF, Philips, the City of Zandvoort, De Lage Landen, and the Radboud University Nijmegen. Strategy development, workshop design and delivery, and coaching have been at the heart of these assignments. From a more academic perspective Freek has been involved in writing publications around the Dutch energy transition, the Circular Economy, and peer-reviewed work around Backcasting from Cradle-to-Cradle.

Freek holds a masters degree in “Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability” from the Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden and an undergraduate degree in Business Economics from Tilburg University.
